Chopta Chandrashila Trek

Things You Would Like To Carry

In the winters, you must definitely have the warm clothing. You must be fully prepared to tackle the wind and snow. You should have the thick and warm jackets, full sleeve sweaters, woollen socks and caps, scarf and gloves. Even if you are trekking in winter it could get pretty cold, especially at night. This is why you must have ample provisions to keep yourself warm.

Remember that it may rain at any time, whether you are trekking in winters or summer. Therefore, for the Chopta trek, you must also have the raincoat with you. Although it is one of the easy treks, you may still need a trekking pole or at least a walking stick.

It is important to stay hydrated; so carry water bottles with you. Skin products like sunscreen, ointments, lip balms, should also be in your bag.

The Trekking Experience

It is highly recommended that you start the trek early in the morning, right after the break of the dawn. You will go all the way to the Chandrashila peak at the height of 3,680 m. This is also the trek along which you will see the very popular Shiva Temple at Tungnath. Some believe that Tungnath is thousands of years old. The Chopta Chandrashila Trek offers you the most exquisite beauty of the nature. From Tungnath, you ascent further, and climb for about an hour before you reach the Chandrashila summit.
